What a great Halloween weekend! It started on Thursday in our neighborhood for the annual trick-or-treat event. All of the shops open the doors, or set up outside while the kids come dressed in their costumes to receive candy. Jane and Ryan joined us and Ryan even convinced Ian to go into the haunted house! Donna ended up taking the boys, while I took Jane and Emery back to my house. The three of us don't do haunted houses! Ian got a bit scared, but I am so glad he faced his fear. They had a great time, even though it was hot as hades outside.
Friday night Donna and I took the kids (minus Emery) over to their "kindergarten school" for their Halloween carnival. It's right across the street from our house and it's where they attend school next year. They were so excited to go see their school and all of the "big kids". The kids bounced their hearts out, got their faces painted, made crafts and felt ooey-gooey mounds of mush for candy. Ian decided against the haunted house this time around!
Saturday night we went a neighborhood over and did a driveway get together. Pizza, Sangria, candy, kids and costumes. We ate and drank, the kids ran around and then we headed around the hood for some trick-or-treating. It seemed that all the kids were so anxious to get back to the driveway and see their loot and hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters.
They ran, they jumped, they ate, they played tag....they had so much fun. I don't think we got home until 10:30pm. A great weekend with good friends...a very happy halloween.
